1.54 acres land for sale in Beatty, Oregon with tall pine trees, power about 260' away, and only 1/2 a mile from a paved road! It's about an hour NE of Klamath Falls, 2.5 hours E of Medford and 3 miles from the Fremont-Winema National Forest!

All of the photos were taken of the property and surrounding views in August 2018. It was hazy from the fires in California but I could still see the Sprague River Valley in the distance. Yainax Drive is a bladed dirt road along the N of the property. Godowa Springs Road aka County Road 1193 is a paved road 1/2 mile NW and Fuego Mtn Dr and Paute Dr which both lead to the property are both graveled so there's easy access to the property.



The property is part of a rolling hill coming off a bit of a canyon to the NE. The NW side sits down in the low part between the two rolling hills and there's a culvert under the road for the intermittent stream. I imagine this flows during snow melt or heavy rains. There's beautiful pine trees nicely covering the property.



Along the slope up the hill to the E off the intermittent stream there is a thicket of brush that was pretty thick walking thru and I had to poke my way around it as I hiked around this property trying to figure it out. And that's where I found two feathers. I picked them up and wondered who they belonged to so I took a couple photos. I believe they are a Magpies primary feathers 6 & 7. I studied a bit about the Magpie totem and its a directional guardian, a messenger, a friend to humans, loyalty, There's very old rhymes about the magpie and in it 2 = joy. There's a lot of feathers that are protected from being taken under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and I left them not knowing what they were. This photo picked up the dark brown along the one edge on the bottom - so pretty. A nice symbol for me to find and study! : )



As you head S off that low point to the back of the property rises back up onto the top of the hill and flattens out. The rest of the property is grassy with nice meadows shaded by the tall pines. The adjoining neighbor to the S has a fence line back there and a few animals outside. I then walked back thru the SE corner of the property and I could see an old storage shed and I think and outhouse thru a break in the trees as seen in image #27. I think that is the property 2 lots E that you see in the aerial photos with quite a bit of junk on it.

It then slopes up the hill to the SE and rises up to the top of the hill where it's flatter. The top offers a pretty view over the farmlands in Sprague River Valley between the peaks in the trees.



There's a neighbor at the corner two lots W and another neighbor to the S. Both of them have power so powers very close! There's another one hidden in the woods to the SE that looks a bit junky.

The property sits about 4 miles N of Beatty and wow is it every a pretty drive with tons of birds and pretty farmlands along County Road 1193 aka Godowa Springs Road.



About 3 miles NE is the Fremont-Winema National Forest offering 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine, wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It's also home to Crater Lake, famous for its deep blue color and water clarity.

In 2012 I was exploring a property in Cooks Canyon on the W side of Cooks Mountain and spotted several prints in the dirt which included bear, cougar and deer! And it seem to be the hunters who buy a lot of our lands.







It sits directly on the Pacific Flyway, a major migratory route for birds extending from Alaska to the tip of South America. Every year, migratory birds travel some or all of this distance both in spring and in fall, finding food, breeding grounds, and overwintering sites. About 80% of those bird make the Klamath Basin a stopover which is over 1 million at times! And wow is it an incredible display of large and small birds, and there is an abundant amount of the large ones!

The largest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see as seen in the additional photos area! I love the drive from Klamath Falls to Sprague River/Beatty and it's flock after flock of birds. I included a few photos of the birds I spotted on my way back to Beatty including this bald eagle!



Sprague River, population 514, sits about 35 miles NE of Klamath Falls. It has a store with basic necessities, a restaurant I have seen come and go and there is also a post office. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting in the countryside. In June 2012 we stopped in at the little country store in Sprague River for some supplies and also across the street at the Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : )



I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an interlibrary system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. They get delivered right to the library out here. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy! I also enjoyed seeing kids jumping from the bridge and playing in the Sprague River and a couple out fishing along the Williamson River and included some of these additional photos at the very bottom.

Klamath County borders northern California and is the fourth largest county in Oregon. Klamath Falls is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town about 45 minutes from Sprague River and Beatty. Here you will find large businesses like Home Depot and Safeway and the courthouse in an old downtown beautiful setting.

I've seen winters where the roads are dry and winters where's there's several feet of snow. I do not explore land here during the winter amd some springs are iffy because unless a neighbor is driving a road to keep the snow down it's blocked. And I've seen it snow here in May and June on a wild weather day! This is the Cascade's!

I enjoy the drive from Klamath Falls out to this area. It follows the Lost River for a few miles and I frequently stop at Stevenson Park which is a little wayside pullout with a couple picnic benches and see what's in the river. One day I saw pelicans...what??? I thought they lived in Florida! Gotta laugh at myself!



In August 2018, the haze from the California wildfires made for a beautiful sunset and as I headed W of Beatty I spotted these two Great Blue Herons, one on top of an old barn and the other on a pole. Soon the one on the barn flew down to join the other for a romantic sunset! I was thrilled to capture it in flight! I see online it's referred to the "old Gallagher barn" - so glad they have left it standing. Some might think it's useless, why leave it? But these two had one heck of a romantic night at that old barn! Ha! : )









This property is zoned for a home or manufactured home. I think it would be a lovely spot to watch the Magpies and ponder their habits and what that means to you. I sure enjoy connecting with Mother Nature and it was really special finding these. Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )
