PROPERTY INFORMATION

2 adjoining 5 acres of land for sale in Beatty, Oregon about an hour NE of Klamath Falls by Sprague River. It is thickly forest land with big tall pine trees in Southern Central Oregon! In fact it is so thick its easy to get lost in the woods - holy cow, which way is up!?! Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California.

I had a chance to view these properties in 2006 and 2009 and didn't take very many photos back then. I also was 1/2 miles south in 2012 and included those photos as well. Those photos show Godowa Springs Road which leads about 110 feet west of the western most lot, tax lot #2501. This is the bladed dirt road seen in the photos. I see this road named differently on the different map software so make sure you use your gps and study the maps to find your way out here. I also noticed that the road that was drawn in on the assessors map doesn't follow the road entirely. But that map is what we would call the assessors "redraw map" and doesn't reflect the correct information always. So the road actually runs closer to property as seen in the aerial photos.

We came in off the highway from to the SW of the property. We included a map highlighting the easiest way out here. At one point there is a split in the road and you're not sure which way to go as these roads run parallel and we took the one to the left and continued N to the property.

The lots are mostly flat with a low spot between the gentle rolling land around the middle of them. It looks like they were logged several years ago by the dead timber pile, stumps and size of the current trees. It's a grassy vegetation with scattered shrubs and soft dirt. When we first visited in 2006 there were a couple horses running thru the woods. That sure surprised me - not sure if they truly run wild out here or someone was missing a few horses!

I previously sold these properties in 2009 and have purchased them back. The owner indicated he has not visited them so they should be in the same condition but bigger trees!

The property was filled with animal poop, butterflys, flowers, pine needles, moss and tons of tall trees! If you can catch a peak thru the trees there are pretty views of the surrounding treed hillsides. It really is a beautiful chunk of land in the middle of the forest! I took a few photos of my moccasins with some of the animal prints and poop that I found in the forest. Can't believe I have started to include poop but I hear it gets the hunters all excited! Ha! : )

There was a beautiful herd of deer down the road where we turned onto the bladed road off of the highway. There are a few homes along the way to the property. The county zoning says it is forestry but there are homes and people there. Hmm... You can also see a few structures in the aerial photos.

The Fremont-Winema National Forest sits about 0.625 miles east as seen in the BLM map. Each squares on this map represents 1 section = 1 square mile.

I obtained the following information on the US Forest Service website: "The Fremont-Winema National Forests offer 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine.

Near the floor of the Basin, the forest opens to vast marshes and meadows associated with Upper Klamath Lake and the Williamson River. To the north and east extensive stands of ponderosa and lodge pole pine grow on deep pumice and ash that blanketed the area during the eruption of Mt. Mazama (now Crater Lake) nearly 7,000 years ago. The eastern portion of the Forests offers expansive views, dramatic cliffs, and solitude. The area is known as Oregon's Outback, and provides the self-reliant recreationist the opportunity to discover nature in a rustic environment."

Beatty is a very small don't blink you'll miss it town about 15 minutes south. It has a cute country store with gas and basics, a post office and a few other businesses that have changed a few times over the years.

Sprague River, population 514, sits about 30 minutes W. It has a store with basic necessities, a restaurant I have seen come and go and there is also a post office. In June 2012 we stopped in at the little country store in Sprague River for some supplies and also across the street at the Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : )

I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an inter library system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. They get delivered right to the library out here. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy! I also enjoyed seeing kids jumping from the bridge and playing in the Sprague River and a couple out fishing along the Williamson River and included some of these additional photos at the very bottom.

Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California. It's the fourth largest county in Oregon. Klamath Falls is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting off the beaten path in the countryside! It is a gorgeous area on the pacific flyway and a fisherman's and hunter's paradise! I love this drive to town and have seen flock after flock of birds, kids out hunting and even a few pelicans along the river. I had no idea that pelicans lived in Klamath Falls!

The area is best known for its wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It is home to Crater Lake National Park and sits directly on the Pacific Flyway. Millions of migrating birds rest and refuel in the county's six wildlife refuges. The largest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see as seen in some of our pictures below of the area!

Loved it! Char the Explorer :)
