PROPERTY INFORMATION

10 acres of land about 11 miles South of the bustling town of Winnemucca, Nevada with power running along the road 10 acres away. It is in beautiful Grass Valley, a countryside setting in Pershing County. There's mountain views of the East Range and the Sonoma Range. All of the photos were taken in June 2019 of the property and its surrounding views. I also included a few photos of the wild horses grazing in Grass Valley just down the road! Images 3 & 4 are not part of this property - please ignore! The image #'s are at the top of the images It is a pretty drive out to this area on Herschell Road with a few homes and farms sprinkled along the way. Head east off Herschell onto Logan Road, a decent dirt/graveled road which runs 10 acres to the N of the property. The property adjoins 240 acres of BLM land on the west! You can see this in the BLM map and parcel map.

There is a neighbor adjoining the property to the north as seen in the photos and aerial photos which is where I took the photos. There is power running along Logan Road and the power stops around the NW corner of their property. Google Earth shows and overgrown bladed dirt road leading off Logan down to the property around where that power pole is but this was so overgrown I could not spot it. You would need to reblade this road.

The area is flat with scattered sage brush and native plants/grasses. Wow was it ever green from all the rain they had this spring! The aerial photos show circular irrigated crops just to the SE and you could see the farms in the distance.

Looking out across the property the sits to the south adjoining this neighbor.

I zoomed in quite a bit to catch a bird on an old fence post which I think is past the property. From the NE to the SE are the Sonoma Mountains which reaches 9396 feet at Sonoma Peak.

To the west is the East Range which reaches 7398 feet at Dun Glen Peak.

I have seen these mountains during the summer as well as the wintertime when they are packed with snow and they are beautiful to watch. These photos were taken years ago along Herschell Road.

This is a very agricultural and scenic valley and the snow melt turns it a pretty green in the spring time!  I spotted wild horses twice on the day I viewed this property! I've seen them a few times now and one of the locals told me it was the last of a few that roamed this area a few years ago!

Winnemucca sure is a busy small town of about 7400 people and the hub city of central northern Nevada. During the week it can be hard to find a hotel because of all the out of town workers for the large mining companies. It's filled with some pretty great restaurants and casinos and I've found it to be a very friendly place. It is considered high desert with lots of sunshine, hot summers and cold winters.

I frequently stop by Rye Patch Reservoir when I'm in the area to take a peek at the water level! It sits about 50 miles SW of Winnemucca. The Humboldt River finds its early beginnings in Elko County and it flows across the state to this reservoir.

Grass Valley continues to be a favorite place for retirees seeking an affordable place in the high Cowboy Country desert! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

PROPERTY MAPS

Property Maps

Prior to visiting the property I suggest you study the maps and the satellite images as they tell the story on how to get there. Get a mental picture of how to get the property from a main road. I frequently write notes in the listings on how I got there myself.

Print out the important maps like the parcel map, the aerial photo with the GPS coordinates and the street map. These are the maps I would use myself if I was going to view the property.

You can enter the latitude and longitude into the search field in Google or Bing maps by putting a comma between them.

I suggest you bring a street dedicated GPS like a Garmin, not your phone. Do not rely on your GPS to take you the correct way as it can take you down miles of roads that aren't the main drags. I've named mine Thelma and Louise because she's tried to drive me off a cliff a few times! If I could just get Brad Pitt to sit in the back seat! : )

Most of the properties I sell are down some kind of rural road - my favs! Be smart and bring a shovel, water, food, blankets, mace, a dog and anything else you might need if you get stuck for a day or two. I've been stuck in the sand, a marsh, had tires blow out - you name it. Be prepared, be safe, and have fun. She's a beautiful Earth. We only get one shot here - get out there and see all she has to offer. Char the Explorer : )
