PROPERTY INFORMATION
20 acres ranch land in Lovelock, Nevada on the E side of the Humboldt Mountains about 120 miles NE of Reno. Its about an hour to the bustling town of Winnemucca and fisherman's favorite Rye Patch Reservoir sits on the other side of the mountains. Its a rural area way off the beaten path in the Buena Vista Valley in Pershing County, NV. Its 5 miles S of historical ghost town Unionville which produced over $3,000,000 in silver in 1870 - 1880.

All of the photos were taken in May 2013 of the property and its surrounding views. It sits only 1/2 mile west of Old Emigrant Trail and there are medium sized overhead transmission lines running thru this property. We drove up the road that leads along them to the property. I took photos of these lines from the property as well as a photo along Old Emigrant Trail looking back up the lines towards the property so you can get a good idea of their size. I believe that these are the same private lines that run to the Rochester Mine in the mountains. You will need to contact the power company to research if you are allowed to tap into these lines but it made me wonder if it would be a possible place for a wind or solar project.

The property sits just below the foothills of the Humboldt Mountains as it falls down to the valley floor from the west to the east. It is covered in short grass with scattered medium sagebrush and native plants. There were some cool big rocks strewn about. There was a storm brewing the day we explored this and it made for a pretty show over the cool mountains to the south.

The valley is surrounded by mountains! From the NW to the SW is the Humboldt Range and you can see the trees filtering down her hillsides to the lower foothills just to the west. Across the other side of the valley to the east is the East Range with Granite Mountains and the Stillwater Range are to the east, all beautiful sites year around! There is a seasonal dry lake alkali flat across the valley to the SE by Granite Mountain. I have seen it when it sure looked like it had water in it but it was dry - a mirage in the desert! It can have water during heavy snow melt or rain though and is a flood area. It sure is a beautiful valley between these two mountain ranges with no one around!

Rye Patch Reservoir, a favorite place for the locals to fish and boat is just on the other side of the Humboldt Mountains as seen in the maps. Several times I have seen people fishing from boats and the banks of the lake and one afternoon saw some people out water skiing! Coyote Ranch is a beautiful ranch in the valley to the north where I saw a few cowboys out practicing their roping a few years ago. I included a few photos of both of these in the additional area photos.

Its about 6 miles NE of Spring Valley Pass which is east of Old Emigrant Trail and takes you west over the Humboldt Mountains to the Oreana exit on Interstate 80 just N of Lovelock. Most people would drive south off Interstate 80 down highway 400 which turns into Old Emigrant Trail and the property sits about 1/2 of a mile west of there. But if you're really in for an adventure you can also head over Spring Valley Pass! Boy is this road a hairy one at places as its only one lane. If someone else comes you need to pull over against the side of the hill and wow is the drop off on the other side of the road a long way down! But the view over the Buena Vista Valley from up here is incredible - just stunning and you can see for miles!

There are quite a few miners who do take this way thru the valley to get to the Rochester Silver-Gold Mining operation that is located about 7 miles SW from this property as the crow flies. You can see the Rochester site and Spring Valley Pass best in the section map. Each square on this map and the BLM map represent one square mile. Several years ago when I first started exploring this area I took my little grade schooler, Amber, with me and we drove over this pass. She saw a cowboy out herding cattle in the canyon and about a mile further down the road we saw a few more cattle and she asked me if we should turn around and let him know that he missed a few! Ha! : ) That little grade schooler now is in college and has worked many years for Smile4u!

At a foreclosure sale in May 2013 I ran in to a realtor who deals in large ranches in northern Nevada. I adore this gal and have admired her website and properties for several years now. She said hello and asked how did I know what I was buying! Good question! I told her I had spent the last 12 years out exploring remote rural valleys across northern Nevada and had driven so many of the dirt roads that I actually had my favorites based upon beauty and access. I told her I loved to go explore land and I wanted to have a good time while doing so and be able to get to the properties. And the Buena Vista Valley is definitely one of those odd ball valleys that I love to explore, take a hairy ride over the Humboldt Mountains, watch the antelope with no one around and catch a sunset at the end of a beautiful day! Enjoy! Char The Explorer : )
