WE GOT THIS!!

THANKS TO YOU FOR
MAKING IT HAPPEN!

And we really mean that! We greatly appreciate all of your words of encouragement and offers to help us out. Some offered to become business partners, some asked if we were going out of business, and plenty offered to buy land! We now have enough monies collected to pay off Smile4u! We did it!

When I wrote my goal to pay off Smile4u by year end 2015, my daughter Amber thought I was crazy as she usually does. I had counted all of the chickens I was hatching (properties we were purchasing) and told her that I thought I could do it if things went along as planned. She frequently tells me not to count my chickens before they hatch! Smarty pants! Aren’t all kids though!

I really do listen to her advice though as she runs the business end of Smile4u. She took over being office manager in 2013, right before the divorce started, and has been running it for a few years now – time sure flies. She started with Smile4u as head pencil sharpener when she was in third grade and she has always taken her responsibilities seriously! She would ride her bike to the office after school to work a few hours every day!

Over the years she learned every step of the land business and wow is it a lot to know! Her extensive knowledge of title work is amazing! The only thing at this point that I probably know more about are the lands we explore! She does all of the documents for buying and selling land, handles all of the payments, she answers most of the emails and phone calls, she balances all the books…what doesn’t this kid do!?!

There has been times over the past 18 months that she did not receive pay because that’s just the way it is when you’re the owner’s kid and things are tight. I told her I appreciated her commitment staying until it is paid off and once it was I would give her 25% ownership of Smile4u Inc. She certainly deserves it and has earned it. No one has ever ran the business like she does. Because of her I am able to work from my home office and spend my time exploring and writing about it.

I asked her a few nights before New Year’s Eve if she saw that we were going to meet our goal and for the first time she said YES because we have so many sales pending! So we didn’t quite bring in the monies by year end but at least we saw we have it! We went out to celebrate lunch the last work day of 2015 and I brought the poster along. She thought it meant thank you to our customers for making it happen.

My aunt told me earlier in the day that she had found some photos still on my Grandfathers camera taken 21 years ago. Wow what a beautiful moment my Grandfather captured! Her eyes are always so bright blue, dancing with light and such a happy girl. And when I made the poster saying thanks to you for making it happen, I really did mean thanks to my little girl for all of her hard work, efforts, time, energy and love. You’ve done your Momma proud! XOXO

Thank you Amber May for making this happen!

Please join in congratulating her on becoming an owner of Smile4u!!

Nimrod River Park 4th Add. Block 37 Lot 5 With Shed SOLD

Nimrod River Park 4th Add. Block 37 Lot 19 Available

2.3 acres of land for sale in Sprague River, Oregon about 45 minutes NE of Klamath Falls and 2 hours NE of Medford, OR. Sit on graveled roads with power along the road only a few miles from town and the river, its a beautiful rural area on the Pacific Flyway by the Winema and Fremont National Forest with flock of birds and kids and fishermen out playing in the rivers! Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California.

All of the photos were taken along Rim Drive at lot 5 and its surrounding views in June 2012. Lot #19 adjoins this property kitty corner and you can see it in the photos as well.

I had a fun time out exploring this land and included a few photos of people playing by the river a few miles down the road, a little prairie dog that was sitting in the middle of the road as well as a deer we saw up on top of Tableland!

The property sits on Knot Tableland, a mesa above the Sprague River Valley, and there is an excellent graveled road that has been cut up the side of this big mesa off of Drew's Road. From there we took a graveled road all of the way to the property and Tableland Road and Rim Drive are graveled roads. There aren't a whole lot of people who live on top of Tableland but this is the part of it that does have a few homes scattered about and power running up here!

There was a hawk soaring about checking us out while we viewed the property - cool! There are a bit of trees sprinkled about and lot of grass and sagebrush. It was a pretty blue sky and lots of sunshine!

There are pretty views of Bly Mountain covered in trees from the S to the SW and all the way down to the W - its almost a 180 degree view of this pretty mountain range! To the N, NE and E are the Fremont Mountains, home of the Winema National Forest which sits just 5.5 miles to the N as seen in the BLM map. Each square on this map represents one square mile and you can see it in the dark green covering several miles!

Lot #19 has power running along it on Tableland Road. We included an aerial photo pointing this out. There are also two wooden stand power lines to the south of lot #19 and you can see this in the aerial photos as well as in images 13-16. If you look closely you will see the shorter power lines in front of the bigger ones. I don't find them obstructive though as they aren't that big.

We included a few photos taken a few miles SW along the Sprague River just as we crossed the bridge. There were people out playing in it every time we crossed it that day and on the way out we caught a couple fishing and included a few photos of that in the additional photos area - what fun that looked like!

Klamath Falls, the fourth largest county in Oregon, is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town. Klamath Falls is best known for its wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It is home to Crater Lake National Park and sits directly under the Pacific Flyway. Millions of migrating birds rest and refuel in the county's six wildlife refuges. The largest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see as seen in some of our pictures below of the area!

The Winema National Forest is within a few miles and I obtained the following information on the US Forest Service website: "The Fremont-Winema National Forests offer 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine. Near the floor of the Basin, the forest opens to vast marshes and meadows associated with Upper Klamath Lake and the Williamson River. To the north and east extensive stands of ponderosa and lodge pole pine grow on deep pumice and ash that blanketed the area during the eruption of Mt. Mazama (now Crater Lake) nearly 7,000 years ago. The eastern portion of the Forests offers expansive views, dramatic cliffs, and solitude. The area is known as Oregon's Outback, and provides the self-reliant recreationist the opportunity to discover nature in a rustic environment."

The population of Sprague River is about 365 and has a store with basic necessities and there is also a post office. In June 2012 we stopped in at the little country store in Sprague River for some supplies and also across the street at the Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : )

I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an inter library system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. They get delivered right to the library out here. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy! I also enjoyed seeing kids jumping from the bridge and playing in the Sprague River and a couple out fishing along the Williamson River and included some of these additional photos at the very bottom.

Beatty is another small don't blink you'll miss it towns about 20 minutes to the SE that has a cute store with gas and basics, a post office and a few other businesses.

Some folks are looking for a rural country side setting to build a home with power being a big cost to the equation. The cost of power can be so expensive making these lots on the Pacific Flyway all that more attractive! I think this would be a great sunny spot for someone looking to plant a garden and set up some scare crows to keep the birds away while you go fishing! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

Klamath County Area Photos

Klamath County Area Photos

All of these photos were taken on our journeys to Klamath County, OR. Located in South Central Oregon it sits in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California. Klamath Falls, the fourth largest county in Oregon, is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town. The population of Klamath Falls is about 22,000 and Klamath County is 68,000. Other communities include Sprague River, Beatty and Chiloquin.

I love the drive from Klamath Falls out to Sprague River and Beatty and I have seen flock after flock of birds, hunters, and cowboys! I always have my camera charged and ready for the drive when I head out to explore land here in the morning! My job doesn't get any better!

The first time I visited Klamath I noticed that several businesses had pelicans as decorations. I thought that was sorta funny - they must be longing for Florida. Well one day while driving along the Lost River E of Klamath Falls there were pelicans! : ) I researched and found out they are the American White Pelicans which migrate at far south as northeastern California. Hmmm who wudda thunk!

Sprague River is a small community about 35 miles NE of Klamath Falls. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting in the countryside. It has a store with basic necessities including gas, a post office and the Sprague River Bridge Connection which offers free food and clothes to the area. I actually stopped by a few times to pick up some baked goods - yummy!

In June 2012 I stopped at the Sprague River Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : ) I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an inter library system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy!

In 2012 I spotted my first beat claw and mountain lion prints on Indian Circle Drive at the top of Klamath Forest Estates! I actually spotted several tracks - pretty exciting!  I'm sure some people think I'm crazy wanting to drive all the way to the top of these hills instead of being on a paved road! My kinda spot!

I love the drive from Klamath Falls to Sprague River/Beatty and it's flock after flock of birds. It follows the Lost River for a few miles and I frequently stop at Stevenson Park which is a little wayside pullout with a couple picnic benches and see what's in the river. One day I saw pelicans...what??? I thought they lived in Florida! Gotta laugh at myself!

In August 2018, the haze from the California wildfires made for a beautiful sunset and as I headed W of Beatty I spotted these two Great Blue Herons, one on top of an old barn and the other on a pole. Soon the one on the barn flew down to join the other for a romantic sunset! I was thrilled to capture it in flight! I see online it's referred to the "old Gallagher barn" - so glad they have left it standing. Some might think it's useless, why leave it? But these two had one heck of a romantic night at that old barn! Ha! : )

Sprague River, population 514, sits about 35 miles NW of Klamath Falls. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting in the countryside. It has a store with basic necessities including gas, a post office and the Sprague River Bridge Connection which offers free food and clothes to the area. I actually stopped by a few times to pick up some baked goods - yummy!

Klamath County borders northern California and is the fourth largest county in Oregon. Klamath Falls is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town about 45 minutes from Sprague River and Beatty. Here you will find large businesses like Home Depot, Wal Mart and Safeway and the courthouse in an old downtown beautiful setting.

I've seen winters where the roads are dry and winters where's there's several feet of snow. I do not explore land here during the winter amd some springs are iffy because unless a neighbor is driving a road to keep the snow down it's blocked. And I've seen it snow here in May and June on a wild weather day! This is the east side of the Cascade Mountains!

Klamath Falls is best known for its wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It is home to Crater Lake National Park, famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. It is a fisherman's and hunter's paradise!

The Fremont-Winema National Forest offers 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine, wetlands, woodlands and wildlife.

It sits directly on the Pacific Flyway, a major migratory route for birds extending from Alaska to the tip of South America. Millions of migrating birds rest and refuel in the county's six wildlife refuges. The largest  concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see! And wow is it an incredible abundant display of large and small birds!

Chiloquin is sure getting to be a super cute little town - I've stopped by the farmers market a few times and picked up fresh fruit and vegetables to eat on the road!

I enjoyed seeing a couple out fishing along the Williamson River near Chiloquin!
