PROPERTY INFORMATION
 

0.66 acres land for sale by Murray, Kentucky a few miles above the Tennessee border and a few-minute drive to Patterson’s Landing Boat Ramp into Kentucky Lake! It sits by Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area centrally located to Nashville, Memphis, St Louis and Louisville. It is a cute area with deer running thru the woods and very minimal zoning restrictions. It's been around since the 60's or 70's and many fisherman find their way to this rural place on the weekends.

We have not had a chance to view these properties and all of the photos were taken in June 2007 about six lots to the SE at the bottom of the block around lot #980 along Eaker Lane. There was power there as seen in the photos and aerial photos. As you can see in the parcel map the property is made up of four adjoining lots with easements for the roads along the west two lots and also along the east two lots. We struggled finding better parcel maps and once again are trying to see if there are any better maps that we can now purchase from the county.

The photos should be a great representation of the big huge tall trees in this area! It’s been a long time since I visited this area and you will definitely need to drive around and see what’s gone on since I last visited. They are located in a private, heavily treed part of the subdivision.

The roads to that point were in good condition. We did find that the road that ran to the west from there was overgrown but the aerial maps show there are homes in this area further W of where we were which is just to the SW of this property. Perhaps they have been improved since I last viewed it. It is hard to see the narrow roads thru the trees in the aerial photos and you will need to visit the area to know just how close the road and power runs. You can see that the road to the west about 300 feet is in. You would need to use the easement to improve the road the rest of the way if it has not been put thru yet. I did find many skinny roads thru the trees up here as seen in the photos like image #3, so look hard for the road!

It is hard to read the parcel map but from the point we took the pictures up to the property looks to be about 700 feet. The first 300 feet of that running from the west to the east we believe is the road in the photos below. This can be a difficult subdivision to find your way around and this took a while for us to find so be sure and give yourself plenty of daylight to explore this land! There is a dedicated easement which gives you the right to put the road in the rest of the way. You would need to speak to the county as to who is responsible for the cost of the road - the county or you. I noticed a few new roads up there in November 2007 from my previous visit in June 2007.

There is a public boat launch nestled in on the subdivision’s east side for easy access to the lake that we noted in one of the maps. Kentucky Lakes has several homes sprinkled about it, beautiful homes mixed in among some older trailers from years back. It’s a very friendly area with neighbors stopping along the way to make sure we were okay. I noticed several people pulling their boats during the day on their way to go fishing! One gentleman that stopped to talk to us shared his interesting story. He had moved here several years ago so he could have his own private retirement place to go fishing. Now there has been growth in the area and it's getting too busy for him. I laughed a bit to myself as the subdivision remains for the most part undeveloped and treed.

It’s a quick drive out to this area from the town of Murray. I read that this subdivision sits next to the only place in the county that sells alcohol! “As of July 18, 2012 Calloway County is STILL a limited dry county, the sale of alcohol in the county is STILL prohibited. Only in the city of Murray is it legal."

This property would be terrific for a fisherman seeking a place to build a getaway, pull in their RV or build a cabin to enjoy while they fish! I liked this part of the subdivision and it reminded me of Washington State with all the big tall trees. I think it would be a great spot for someone really looking for a place to get away and go fishing for the weekend and not let anyone find you! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )

Calloway County was formed in 1823. The population is about 37, 657 for Calloway County and 17, 741 for the town of Murray. Its central location is within a day's drive from most of the eastern United States. Murray is only eight miles from the Tennessee state line. It is 125 miles north of Nashville, 225 miles southeast of St Louis and 228 miles southwest of Louisville.
