T33N R35E S26 is 100 Acres in the NE4
All of the photos were taken in August 2020 of T33N R35E Sec26 100 Acres in the NE4. The first photos were taken from the top of the hill of the property and the last ones below by the road. I also included photos of the mine that is a few miles further up the road as well as the cows that were grazing and an antelope on the property when I pulled up! It was hazy from the fires in the Reno area so even a better view than the photos!

100 acres in Imlay, Nevada by Winnemucca in the hills overlooking the Humboldt River Valley. It has great access on a graveled road and sits about 2.5 miles from I-80. It's 2 hours NE of Reno and fishermans favorite Rye Patch State Recreation is 28 miles SW. I picked this property up at a foreclosure sale and got a smoking deal and am passing the savings on to you - a big 100 acres so close to I-80 and Rye Patch Reservoir.
All of photos were taken in June 2019 and August 2020 of the property and surrounding views. Take the Mill City exit off I-80. There is a TA Truck stop here so pretty easy to spot. Head east on Dun Glen Canyon Road which is a graveled road that runs right thru the property! The property is made up of an 80 acre parcel and a 20 acre parcel and I am selling them together totaling 100 acres.
Looking SW on Dun Glen Canyon Road. The property sits on both sides of the road.
I took the photos from a few different spots in 2019. I first drove south off the road and climbed the hill a ways in the truck so I could get a good shot at the intermittent stream that runs along the road before it splits. I also took some of the photos along the road that goes thru the 80 acres.
In 2020 I stopped by the property again and this time drove to the top of the hill on the north part of the property. The top is flat with low scattered grass/vegetation and offers sweeping views of the valley and mountains surrounding! It was hazy from the fires in California so an even prettier view is to be expected!
A beautiful pronghorn was grazing when I viewed it in 2020!
Looking NE across the property. The stream runs along the hill that sits to the right of Dun Glen Canyon Road. I couldn't really make out the stream other than there was a bit more sagebrush along it.
I took images 70-135 (the image #'s are at the top of the images) further NE about 6/10 of a mile at the cattle guard. I spotted a federal survey marker (FSM) there that notes it is the Dun Glen Cattle Guard. This is not the corner section FSM. Wow I was really confused for a bit as it says that it sits in the SE4SE4. I did the math and brougth up several maps and I believe the cattle guard sits in the SW4SE4.
If you look at the aerial photos you will see how the northern portion of this property sits up top of this same hill - I am guessing about 40 acres sits up here. It has views for miles across the Humboldt River Valley! I sure would love to see it up here when the Humboldt River is flooding below!
From the NW to the SW are the Eugene Mountains and the Humboldt River flows into the reservoirs at the southern end of these mountains.
To the SW and S is the Humboldt Range which reaches up to 9,836 feet at Star Peak. I sure have seen these loaded with snow over the years - gorgeous!
To the NE and SE is the East Range. It reaches 7398 feet at Dun Glen Peak!
I continued further up Dun Glen Road about 3.75 miles and snapped a few photos of the Dun Glen gold mine. It was quiet when I was there and I am not sure if this is still an active mine - really doesn't appear to be anything going on.
Cows were grazing on the way to the mine - oh my was the bull stunning! I believe it to be a Charolais which hails from France and raised for their meet and often crossed with an Angus or Hereford.
Those eyes!!!
There are a few services along the interstate including the TA Travel Center & Alamo Casino which I have stopped at a few times. A friendly place to get gas and a bite to eat.
The BLM and Forest Map shows the Humboldt River flowing into the Upper Pit Taylor Reservoir and Rye Patch Reservoir just on the other side of the interstate. They also show Thunder Mountain which sits in Humboldt Range about 10 miles to the SW. She is the 3rd highest peak in the range at 9090 feet.
A few miles west at the Imlay exit along I80 is the historical Thunder Mountain Indian Monument now a State of Nevada Preservation Project. It is a place that the hippies used to trek to in the 60s. Created by Chief Rolling Mountain Thunder, aka Frank Van Zant, he described his roadside art park variously as a museum, a monument to the American Indian, and as a retreat for pilgrims aspiring to the pure and radiant heart. He gathered all the junk people had left behind over the years and made art out of it, making statements about the sad history of the American Indians. The house is a collaboration of bottles, car parts, TVs, windshields, rocks, horse carts, you name it! You could spend a long time looking at the different things (not sure what to call them, so we'll just keep it at things!) But definitely a form of art! This is really a piece of American History! His son has spent several years getting it preserved and put on the historic registry. It is an unusual look at the plight of the Native Americans.
There is a donation box there to help support their efforts asking for $2 per group. We dug deep into our wallets and came up with about $5 in change. As I dumped it into the donation box, I thought about those ahead of me who may have come to this place years ago with just pennies in their pockets as well and I got a big smile out of that! I wrote about this place in May 2012 in a newsletter and I have since read about it in a travel magazine. I have also read that this wasn't such a happy place for some people who lived here and I just want to acknowledge that as well. Life is definitely difficult at times and not every ones plight in life turns in to a quirky art museum. As I continue to learn about this place, the art seems to come more to life every time I visit and each time I see something new that I didn't notice before.
27 miles SW is Rye Patch Reservoir, a hot spot to fish and boat! I frequently stop and take a peek at the water level and see if anyone is out fishing or boating! The Humboldt River finds its early beginnings in Elko County and it flows across the state to this reservoir.
I think this would be a great spot for someone that needs quick access to Interstate 80 and is looking for a lot of space to spread out! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )
Prior to visiting the property I suggest you study the maps and the satellite images as they tell the story on how to get there. Get a mental picture of how to get the property from a main road. I frequently write notes in the listings on how I got there myself. Print out the important maps like the parcel map, the aerial photo with the GPS coordinates and the street map. These are the maps I would use myself if I was going to view the property. You can enter the latitude and longitude into the search field in Google or Bing maps by putting a comma between them. I suggest you bring a street dedicated GPS like a Garmin, not your phone. Do not rely on your GPS to take you the correct way as it can take you down miles of roads that aren't the main drags. I've named mine Thelma and Louise because she's tried to drive me off a cliff a few times! If I could just get Brad Pitt to sit in the back seat! : ) Most of the properties I sell are down some kind of rural road - my favs! Be smart and bring a shovel, water, food, blankets, mace, a dog and anything else you might need if you get stuck for a day or two. I've been stuck in the sand, a marsh, had tires blow out - you name it. Be prepared, be safe, and have fun. She's a beautiful Earth. We only get one shot here - get out there and see all she has to offer. Char the Explorer : )
