Property Photos

The first 9 photos were taken in June 2003 of Block 64 Lot 42. The next 2 photos were taken up on the top of Tableland Mesa showing the wooden transmission lines that run about 225 feet south of the intersection of Clackamas Street and Lincoln Street in a west to east direction. The next 23 photos were taken in June 2012 of block 66 lot 27 which is 1 mile SW. They show the edge rocky edge of Tableland Mesa and the view across the valley from the NW to the SE of the Sprague River meandering thru the valley. I also included a few birds along Drews Road, a deer on top of Tableland Mesa and a couple out fishing the Williamson River that day!

PROPERTY INFORMATION

2.26 acres of land for sale in Sprague River, Oregon with views of the Sprague River and Bly Mountain in south central Oregon. Its about an hour NE of Klamath Falls and ten minutes NE of the little town of Sprague River. Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California. Klamath Falls, the fourth largest county in Oregon, is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town.

The first 9 photos were taken about 1/5 of a mile south in June 2003 at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Clackamas Street. Lincoln Street is a bladed graveled/ dirt road along the south seen in image #1 & 2. The image numbers are at the top of the photos. It sits about 4/5 of a mile NE of Drews Road which is the main paved road thru the area and leads back to Sprague River.

Image #1 shows is looking towards the property as it sits along the road and rises up to the edge of the mesa. I'm not positive I got enough of this hill in the photo but it's pretty close if not and gives you an idea of what that hill is like covered with trees. There's a bit of an intermittent stream that flows thru the green grass just off the road. IT is covered in grass, sagebrush and scattered trees.

If you look closely in image 6 you can see the wooden transmission lines that sit just below Clackamas Street about 1/4 mile to the south. I included 2 photos of those lines that I took up on top of the mesa because you can't really see them very well the day was so cloudy! They also give you an idea of why they call it Tableland Mesa - like a big flat table top! You can also see a bit of the Sprague River cutting thru the valley floor - too bad it was such a cloudy day!

Photos 12 - 34 were taken in June 2012 about 1 mile SW along Umatilla Street showing the rocky edge of Tableland Mesa that this lot rises up to from the west to the east. It touches the rim of Tableland Mesa and I included photos scrambling around those rocks along the rim to give you an idea of how cool those are!

Across the valley from the SW to the SE is the Sprague River meandering thru the valley floor about 1.5 miles away. Spring Butte and Bug Butte pop out of the valley floor on the other side of the narrow valley and Bly Mountain is beyond! They are part of the Winema Fremont National Forest!

I've seen an incredible variety of birds on the rivers here over the years as seen in the photos below. Among the cutest would have to be this troop crossing Drews Road, the main drag that runs along Sprague River 7/10 of a mile south of this property. The ducks looked funny waddling cross the road and were having a difficult time trying to decide if they should cross the road in front of us. Smart ducks - they turned back! : )

It doesn't appear in the photos looking at the edge of the mesa that these have quite as much rock as those did but looks can be very deceiving. I sure hope they do because I've had a fabulous time exploring them a few times now! I've seen some pretty cool colors in the rocks and an adorable chipmunk and killdeer bird that I included! A local said to me once be careful the snakes like to hang out in those rocks...duh ya!

Some quick facts about the chipmunk after a quick check and finding out that it wasn't a squirrel 5 years after I took the photo! Squirrels are found almost everywhere in the world but chipmunks are mainly in North America. They have black stripes running from head to tail and on their heads with white strips under their eyes. Some squirrels might have this but not prominent. And they have shorter less bushy tails. Cute rodent! : )

The Sprague River Valley is surrounded by National Forest. I obtained the following information on the US Forest Service website: "The Fremont-Winema National Forests offer 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine.

Near the floor of the Basin, the forest opens to vast marshes and meadows associated with Upper Klamath Lake and the Williamson River. To the north and east extensive stands of ponderosa and lodge pole pine grow on deep pumice and ash that blanketed the area during the eruption of Mt. Mazama (now Crater Lake) nearly 7,000 years ago. The eastern portion of the Forests offers expansive views, dramatic cliffs, and solitude. The area is known as Oregon's Outback, and provides the self-reliant recreationist the opportunity to discover nature in a rustic environment."

Sprague River, population 514, sits about 35 miles NW of Klamath Falls. It has a store with basic necessities, a restaurant I have seen come and go and there is also a post office. In June 2012 we stopped in at the little country store in Sprague River for some supplies and also across the street at the Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : )

I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an inter library system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. They get delivered right to the library out here. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy! I also enjoyed seeing kids jumping from the bridge and playing in the Sprague River and a couple out fishing along the Williamson River and included some of these additional photos at the very bottom.

Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California. It's the fourth largest county in Oregon. Klamath Falls is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting off the beaten path in the countryside!

The area is best known for its wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It is home to Crater Lake National Park and sits directly on the Pacific Flyway. Millions of migrating birds rest and refuel in the county's six wildlife refuges. The largest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see as seen in some of our pictures below of the area! I love this drive to town and have seen flock after flock of birds, kids out hunting and even a few pelicans along the river. I had no idea that pelicans lived in Klamath Falls!

Zoned for either a home or a manufactured home this is a great place for someone seeking a rural area off the beaten path to bring your fishing pole and enjoy the birds! Enjoy! Char the Explorer : )
