PROPERTY INFORMATION

10.15 acres of land for sale in Sprague River, Oregon about an hour NE of Klamath Falls. It is covered with big tall pine trees in Southern Central Oregon and zoned forestry range! Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California.

All of the photos were taken of the property in May 2010 and wow I sure didn't take very many photos back then! But they definitely show how thick the property is with big tall pine trees! It sits about 5 miles SE of Sprague River. I accessed the property by going S on Forbes Road off Sprague River Road aka 858. I then went west on Fremont to the end of it where it split. I then headed SW and that road led thru the property. We have highlighted this in one of the maps. Some of the maps show a road that comes in from the N but I was unable to access that road off Sprague River Road.

The closest power I see is about 1 mile NE at the neighbors on Fremont so still quite a ways away. You would need to contact the local power company for the cost to bring it to the property. Looking at Google Earth the closest neighbor appears to be about 1/4 mile NE, otherwise it looks like there's no one else around!

The property is mostly flat on the NW side of it where the road cross thru it. It then has a rise to the south and climbs to its highest point at the SE corner. I show a change in elevation from about 4420' at its NW corner to 4500' at the SE corner. We included a few aerial photos showing this property sitting in the foothills!

10 acres to the S is the 2.3 million acre Winema National Forest as seen in the BLM map. Each squares on this map represents 1 section = 1 square mile. The forest actually sits in the southern part of the same section of land that this property is located in. It sits in the lower foothills with Bly Mountain to the SE and Red Mountain to the SW.

The Sprague River meanders less than 2 miles to the north and I always see birds along the highway and river as seen in the photos below! My biggest surprise is seeing pelicans as I had no idea there lived in Oregon - I thought only tropical climates!

I obtained the following information on the US Forest Service website: "The Fremont-Winema National Forests offer 2.3 million acres to explore! The heavily timbered western portion of the forests is bordered by the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range and Crater Lake National Park, and stretches east into the Klamath River Basin, an area known for its year-round sunshine.

Near the floor of the Basin, the forest opens to vast marshes and meadows associated with Upper Klamath Lake and the Williamson River. To the north and east extensive stands of ponderosa and lodge pole pine grow on deep pumice and ash that blanketed the area during the eruption of Mt. Mazama (now Crater Lake) nearly 7,000 years ago. The eastern portion of the Forests offers expansive views, dramatic cliffs, and solitude. The area is known as Oregon's Outback, and provides the self-reliant recreationist the opportunity to discover nature in a rustic environment."

Sprague River, population 514, sits about 10 minutes NW. It has a store with basic necessities, a restaurant I have seen come and go and there is also a post office. In June 2012 we stopped in at the little country store in Sprague River for some supplies and also across the street at the Post Office / Public Library. A special shout out to Joyce, the postal worker who also happens to be the librarian. She educated me about the library...among other things. Like which side the glass window would be on if they were truly closed! : )

I peeked thru the window into the library which was not yet open and she said they were kept very busy and they also offer an inter library system that allows people to special order books and tapes from any library in Klamath County. They get delivered right to the library out here. I commented that we had that were we lived in as well and we are big fans of that - a cheap way to read investing and inspirational material for me cause I am cheap! Ha! She said theirs is very busy! I also enjoyed seeing kids jumping from the bridge and playing in the Sprague River and a couple out fishing along the Williamson River and included some of these additional photos at the very bottom.

Klamath County is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, bordering northern California. It's the fourth largest county in Oregon. Klamath Falls is the county seat as well as the largest nearby town. This is a favorite area for many seeking a rural setting off the beaten path in the countryside! It is a gorgeous area on the pacific flyway and a fisherman's and hunter's paradise! I love this drive to town and have seen flock after flock of birds, kids out hunting and even a few pelicans along the river. I had no idea that pelicans lived in Klamath Falls!

The area is best known for its wetlands, woodlands and wildlife. It is home to Crater Lake National Park and sits directly on the Pacific Flyway. Millions of migrating birds rest and refuel in the county's six wildlife refuges. The largest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states winters here and they are a fabulous sight to see as seen in some of our pictures below of the area!

I previously sold this property in 2010 and have purchased it back. The owner indicated he has not visited them so they should be in the same condition but bigger trees! Loved it! Char the Explorer :)
